Planning: Demographics

Demographics
Target Audience is the type of person or a group of people you wish to view your film. Target Audiences can range, for example; Race, Nationality, Age, Gender.

Gaining Demographics
History - Looking at films from the past and gaining ideas.
Survey - Interview about current interests of the people and trends that are around currently. For example ("what kind of films do you watch").
Other questions - What aspect of horror/thriller do you like?
Questions of personal interests, make sure the target audience is locked in with the plot, mine en scene etc.

For example women watch horror films more than men because men watch horror films with girls as a date and some girl just go with a group of friends, this seems to be the current trend.

The statistics to the left shows the percentage of women and men who go to watch thrillers.

Since we know that a higher percentage of men watch horror we have to base the film more towards men's interests.
For example music that men like, clothing that men prefer.

The graph on the left shows how the age group differs from genres compared to horror.

This shows that more teenagers like thriller movies more then any other age generations.

This mean that we would have to add things in the store that teenagers can relate too.

For example characters the same same age as the views. Scenes with sex, drugs and violence. These are what interest viewers and makes them watch the film.
